DIY Valentine’s Day Placemat Craft

I earn commission from the links below.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by creating something special with your little ones? This year, I wanted to make an easy and fun craft with my kids that would also be used for Valentines Day! Not only does this craft allow for quality family time, but it also adds a delightful touch to our Valentine’s Day meals!

What You’ll Need
– Toilet Paper Roll: This simple item will serve as our stamp.

– Paint: Use washable, non-toxic kid paints in your favorite Valentine’s colors—think reds, pinks, purples, and whites.

– Paper: A large sheet of plain paper or butcher paper works best for your placemat.

Create Your Valentine’s Day Placemats

1. Lay down some old newspapers or a drop cloth to protect your workspace. Get your paints ready in small bowls or on an extra sheet of thick paper.

2. Take the toilet paper roll and press inward to create a heart shape like shown in the picture. Now gently press the heart shape into the paint. You can cut a the toilet paper roll into multiple pieces to get more stamps.

3. Press the painted end of the roll onto the paper, creating a pattern. Encourage your kids to get creative! They can overlap colors and designs, resulting in a unique look.

4. Once you’re happy with your design, set the placemat aside to dry completely. This is a great time to clean up your workspace together and maybe even prepare a special Valentine’s Day treat like our paleo Valentine Cookies!

5. Once dry, place your new placemat on the table, and serve up a delicious meal. I love using it for breakfast, as seen in my photo, where a bowl of Cinnamon Maple Overnight Oats is perfectly complemented by our handmade creation.

Why This Craft is Special
Encourages Creativity: Kids can express themselves through colors and patterns, fostering their artistic skills.

Quality Family Time: Crafting together is a wonderful way to bond and create lasting memories.

Personal Touch: Each placemat is unique, adding a heartfelt touch to your Valentine’s Day celebration.

This simple yet meaningful DIY project is a perfect way to celebrate love and creativity with your children. Plus, it’s an excellent opportunity to teach them about reusing materials in fun ways. So gather your supplies, roll up your sleeves, and let the Valentine’s Day crafting begin!

May your Valentine’s Day be filled with love, laughter, and lots of colorful creations!
